About Shannon Alberts

(also known as Shannon Lynn Alberts, Shannon L. Alberts, Shannon Schweinhagen, Shannon Lynn Schweinhagen, Shannon L. Schweinhagen)

Even from a young age, attorney Shannon Alberts was instilled with the desire to help others. She fondly remembers in high school when her mother would get the family together to volunteer at homeless shelters once a week. Years later, she never lost the spark that comes from picking up those who are at a low point. Now, as a family law attorney, Shannon is dedicated to giving her clients a voice and getting them and their families what they deserve.

Shannon was one of the rare people who wanted to be a lawyer from an early age. As a young woman she was fascinated by the law and saw it as a positive force to change people's lives for the better. Originally, she had dreams of being a senator but that changed after law school. Since her mother was the VP of an insurance agency she quickly went to work in insurance defense. However, something didn’t feel right. It didn't take her long to realize she missed doing something that was important for others. She wanted to help people, not just help insurance companies save money.

That was when she turned back to family law and never looked back. During law school, Shannon worked at the Family Law Forms Desk at Marquette University over her lunch break. At first, it felt like she was only assisting people in filling out paperwork, but she soon realized that this small gesture was helping people make a profound change in their lives.

Shannon is a passionate defender of her clients in the areas of divorce, child custody, and child support. Her drive is to help people navigate the law and find a better future. By using her knowledge and skill as an attorney, she gives power and a voice to her clients. She is constantly looking for ways to empower them and works tirelessly for the sake of others.

Shannon graduated with a degree in Politics from Carroll University in Waukesha before moving on to get her law degree at Marquette University Law School. While at law school, she participated in a number of programs including pro bono work at the Milwaukee County Courthouse. During her undergrad, she met her husband and successfully powered her way through law school despite having her first child between her first and second year.

As someone who grew up in Illinois, she now appreciates the slower pace of life in Wisconsin. She is the proud mother of two young children, Madeline and Maverick and loves spending time with them. You might find Shannon enjoying dinner and live music at Black Sheep in Green Bay or spending a day at Bay Beach with her kids. Even though her husband is from Door County, she still considers it one of her favorite vacation spots and loves to visit the wineries, beaches, and antique stores.

"This past fall, I filed for divorce. My husband and I were in a situation where neither of us really needed a lawyer to sort things out, so I decided to file pro se. I was concerned about making a mistake in the paperwork and delaying the final separation, so I called Attorney Festerling agreed to work w/me on a "consult only" basis, meaning she would answer my questions and review my documents, charging only for the time spent on those things. There would be no big legal fees incurred for her presence in court or for her time in filling out documents that I was capable of handling myself. She was kind and helpful, and our case went through without a hitch. The overall outlay was very reasonable. I was very happy with the help I received and felt confident going to the court date, knowing all our ducks were in a row. It was as good as an experience like this can be."
