About Michelle L. Gordon

(also known as Michelle Gordon, Michelle Lea Gordon)

From the start, attorney Michelle L. Gordon felt a drive to help people through difficult times. With over two decades of legal experience, Michelle is a compassionate and fierce advocate for her clients.

There are not many areas of family law that Michelle has not handled. She is a skilled practitioner in the areas of divorce, child custody, child support, post-divorce actions, paternity, as well as prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.

Michelle has a storied career safeguarding families and fighting for what she thinks is right but has never strayed far from family law. In 1998, she worked as an attorney at a family law firm in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. She then moved onto another law firm in Greenfield, maintaining a family law focus. In 2009, she accomplished one of her long-term goals and founded her own legal practice.

In 2012, Michelle moved to Green Bay, where she worked in the Legislative Reference Office for the Oneida Nation. There, she drafted laws and policies for the Nation, including help to create the Oneida Nations' first Family Court. In 2014, she transferred to the Oneida Law Office where she acted as attorney to commence and enforce child support orders and establish paternity. She also was the lead Attorney for Indian Child Welfare matters ensuring the Nation's children were protected.

In 2016, Michelle's decades of work helping families and children truly paid off when she was appointed to Wisconsin Commission on Children, Families, and the Courts. The commission's mission is to improve the processing of child abuse cases through the Wisconsin court system. She still serves there today.

Michelle uses her considerable knowledge to help people navigate the complexities of the legal system. One of her favorite feelings is seeing the happiness and relief of her clients when a case is finalized. She also loves the camaraderie between her fellow attorneys and the challenges of being in court.

Michelle's biggest hero is her father, a compassionate preacher who urged her to pursue a career in law to help others. Until her Junior year, she majored in Social Work at Northwestern College. Though still undecided, she earned a masters degree in Social Work and her law degree simultaneously from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1998. After graduating, she quickly found her talents were best suited towards a legal career, and she hasn't looked back since.

Families come in all shapes and sizes, something Michelle knows well. She is happily married and has a daughter and two stepsons. When not in the office, Michelle takes advantage of everything llife has to offer. She loves to visit the many beautiful sites in Wisconsin and experience the variety of native cultures who live here.
