About Chelsea Gatterman
(also known as Chelsea Elise Gatterman, Chelsea E. Gatterman)
Even from a young age, attorney Chelsea Gatterman knew she was destined for great things. At age five, she was already an expert arguer and knew she wanted to go to law school. That strength in arguing turned into a passion for using her strengths to help people in crisis.
Chelsea primarily practices in the areas of divorce, child custody, and child support. She also has served as Guardian ad Litem for children. Family law provides her with a unique opportunity to help people during a low point. She is constantly learning and keeping up with changes in the law, and strives to explain even the most complex issues to her clients in a simple way.
A divorce case is a single occurrence, but the implications last for the rest of your life. This is why Chelsea advocates in a way that keeps family units intact as much as possible. Parents must learn how to co-parent long after she leaves the picture, and her main goal is to set families up for long-term success.
She is also a fierce advocate for children and families and has participated in numerous successful adoption cases.
Chelsea initially channeled her love for helping people into social work, a field she majored in for her undergrad. Her experience in social work gave her unique insights into practical ways to help people, and the resources available in the community to do so. She went on to get her law degree from Marquette University before joining Davidson Law Office, a small family law firm in Milwaukee. In 2016, she opened her own practice, focusing largely on disability, family law, and Guardian at Litem work.
Chelsea's own family is big and diverse. She has two daughters, Magnolia and Eleanor, and a stepdaughter, Carly. The family is accompanied by a one-eyed cat named Winnie and a rescue dog named Carl. Chelsea is a fishing addict and loves spending time on the water, and recently managed to catch a 48-inch Musky up in Door County. If not spending time with her daughters or in the office, she might be found trying out new restaurants, going to local festivals, and supporting local businesses in Oconomowoc.
