I'm not really sure how to answer this because i was so disappointed with the results of the case. I thought maybe the case would have gone differently, but Emery never said anything in my defense. When I did try to speak up and prompt her to give some evidence of the false claim she said…"No Laura. We are fine."\\r\\n\\r\\nI didn't have $1500 to spend so i only paid for a lawyer because I thought i had a valid argument. I was prepared for the fact that I may lose, but not for the fact that my arguments were never made by my attorney. \\r\\n\\r\\nI could have saved a lot of money if I would have know that Emery was just going to let it all happen without at least bringing to light my evidence. She did apologize but that doesn't help me now that my child support has been cut and I'm out all of the legal costs.\\r\\n\\r\\nI have tried to just be calm about it and let it be in the past. My ex husband has taken me to court several times in 10 years and I have never lost to him.\\r\\nSince none of the facts were presented, my ex husband's lie (written in the motion) was never brought to light. \\r\\nUnfortunately, even though Emery is a nice person and I thought we were in the same page, I don't really know what i paid for. So I have not been able to recommend her to other people I know.\\r\\nShe knows how I feel and basically said there is nothing we can do now. So that's where I stand I guess.\\r\\nI was also upset that Mary had told me "flat fee" which I thought meant $1000. Since my ex husband never showed up to the 1st virtual hearing they rescheduled it for later. Because of the delay, Emery explained i owed more money. Again, I was penalized for something my ex husband caused. She explained that it wasn't a "flat fee" and technically 30 days would be up AND they would be filing a new motion. I reminded her that it was exactly the same motion both times. She said that didn't matter and that the extra $500 was actually discounted. Because Mary and I are friends I didn't want to get into it. I think in the future if a hearing is postponed or moved, that should be taken into consideration when charging a client.\\r\\nIf you would like to talk further that is fine, but I think I have said everything.
Empathetic and I felt heard.
