About Sterling Lawyers
We are on 6th Avenue, a few blocks in from the lake and a short walk from the Kenosha County Courthouse. If you have a hearing in the morning and have to be back at work by noon, that walk is most of the reason this office sits where it does.
Divorce, legal custody and physical placement, child support, maintenance, property division, paternity. That is the entire list, and it is the entire practice.
Innovative Pricing Model
This is what most people call about, so here it is plainly. We do not bill by the hour. Before you sign anything, you get one number, and that number reflects what your case actually is, whether that is document review, mediated, or contested.
It does not climb because a hearing got adjourned or because your spouse hired someone who enjoys filing motions. Research, phone calls, emails, the walk to the courthouse, and every hour your attorney spends on your file are already inside it.
Under an hourly arrangement, every question has a price, so people stop asking them. They sit on things. Then something they were worried about in March turns out to have been the thing that mattered. Taking the meter out of the room is the entire point.
Dedicated to Family Law
Family law is all anyone in this office practices, here and at our other locations across Wisconsin. That narrowness does more work than it sounds like. When placement schedules and property division are the only things you have ever handled, you stop guessing. You learn which financial documents start arguments and which ones end them. You learn what a realistic schedule looks like when one parent works second shift and the other does not.
None of that shows up on a resume. It shows up in how quickly we can tell you whether the thing keeping you awake is an actual problem or just a frightening one.
Team of Attorneys Striving for Excellence
Our attorneys meet as a group. When a case has a wrinkle nobody has seen recently, a pension that needs dividing, a parent talking about moving to Illinois, it gets talked through by more than one person before anything is filed.
Because we handle only family law, we work with the same appraisers, financial professionals, mediators, and guardians ad litem over and over. When your case needs one of them on short notice, we are not starting from a search engine.
What we will not do is tell you how a judge is going to rule. Anyone who promises that is selling you something.
Transparent & Inclusive Communication
You will get a straight answer, including when it is one you would rather not hear. If your position is weak somewhere, we would rather say so in month one than in month seven. Nobody is well served by an attorney who agrees with them right up until the hearing.
Family-Centric Approach
Kenosha[1] is not a big city. People run into each other at the Harbor Market, at the same schools, on the same blocks. A divorce here is not anonymous, and plenty of people are as worried about the version of the story that gets around as they are about the legal result.
We work accordingly. We keep things as contained as the other side will let us, and we do not create noise for its own sake.
Free Wisconsin Tools You Can Use Before You Call
Most people want a rough idea of the numbers before they talk to anybody. That is fair. These are free and they are yours to use:
- Wisconsin child support calculator, so the number stops being a rumor.
- Wisconsin alimony calculator, for a rough sense of maintenance before you lose sleep over it.
- Wisconsin divorce forms, so the paperwork is not a surprise when it lands.
Unwavering Commitment and Ethical Promise
Wisconsin family law is the only law anyone here reads, so changes land with us early. That is less impressive than it sounds and more useful than it sounds.
Your First Step Towards Closure
Most people who call have been turning this over for months before they pick up the phone. There is no wrong time to start, and the first conversation is about your situation, not a pitch. Call us, or use the book my consultation form on this page.
Not ready for that yet? We run free workshops where one of our Wisconsin attorneys walks through how the process actually unfolds, where people tend to get stuck, and then stays to answer whatever you want to ask. You can sit in the back and say nothing.
Are you ready to move forward? Call (262) 221-8123 to schedule a strategy session with one of our attorneys.
