A process such as a divorce or separation is always emotionally stressful and extremely challenging. My experience with Attorney Abbey Henderson has been excellent. While family and friends are a support system, it is amazing to find a second support system in the form of Abbey and her team. She is very responsive, detail oriented and patient. She always helped me walk through scenarios, navigate the steps and answered my questions in detail. She is thoughtful, proactive and great to work with. Thank you Abbey for everything!

At first I felt like I was gonna get great representation and it was an open and shut case. Everything was in black and white and real easy to make my case go quick and easy, a court order is a court order, until we went to court and the court order all of a sudden meant nothing. My ex didn’t follow the order and decided to be greedy and selfish. With what she did, by law was more then just contempt of court but she should be brought up on criminal charges of theft or even a more serious charge. The money she withheld from me that was court ordered to be paid to me when our house sold was almost $20,000. So while she lives high on her throne and continues to make me look and feel like a bad person for goin after what is rightfully mine, I am suffering mentally, financially and emotionally, my business, T-Bones BBQ LLC is also taking a hit and has been suffering because I am not able to afford to have someone take care of my website, clerical work, accounting and transportation/shipping. I have had to use credit cards to pay for things that I wouldn’t normally have to because I am displaced from my home and place of business having to relocate to another city and not able to keep product where it is easily accessible for me to get when the customers need a new supply, also without my small portion of the sale of our home I can’t afford to buy myself a new location because Kasie has chosen to keep more money from the proceeds of the sale then agreed upon in the court order. I was being nice and agreed to a 60/40 split of the money. I only received approximately $15,000 when I should have received almost $35,000. Due to this I am unable to even use the $15,000 which would help me and my small business out in many ways. And then at court I am told that if she doesn’t have the money to pay me all that is owed she will get to make payments to me.
After I first contacted Sterling Law I felt almost overwhelmed with the response I got making me feel very important and that my case was very important and had many people in many different departments of the office contacting me assuring me I was in good hands and that this was gonna be a very quick case. I paid over $4300 and after the payment was made until just before the court hearing I felt confident and believed that this case would be quick and I would be able to move forward with my life and get back to helping my business grow. But then when we went to court it seemed like my case was not important to Sterling law anymore and I had a different lawyer show up as my lawyer who seemed very inexperienced and I didnt feel like I was represented very well at all. Allowing her to once again get away with doin whatever she wanted and there was no mention of the court order except that it wasn’t important enough to be followed anymore. I asked for certain information to be addressed and was told it isn’t important enough to say anything. Kasie has done me wrong in so many ways and continues to make claims about me as a person and bash my business. I have lost customers, clients, friends and family, money due to her actions. And as time goes on my anxiety and depression continues to get worse, it was bad enough goin through a divorce that I didn’t want or understand why it was happening but then with her choosing to try and get away with stealing from me and my business to benefit herself, buying her daughter a new car and using the money she has of mine to impress the guy she cheated on me with with a long time, who happens to be a coworker of hers and helping her advance and move up within the company they work for, I am suffering from her actions. I worked my butt off for yrs prior to covid and because I have a disease that my doctors felt the need to pull me outta working my full time job of 10+ years and advising me to stay home I spent about all the money I had saved up to remodel our house. I paid for all the materials and between Kasie and I we did all the work to fix the place up. She painted two rooms and the kitchen cabinets while I built a privacy fence and enclosed our backyard for our dogs, built a shed in the backyard, built and installed stainless steel handrails for both front and rear entrances of the home, ran power to the attached garage then insulated it added Sheetrock and painted, installed new windows doors and an insulated garage door, layed block in a large area for a new patio to have friends and family over and enjoy, a few new appliances that I bought and installed and because the foundation of the house was deteriorating I removed the loose mortar and stone and replaced, refinished and sealed the foundation outside and 3of the 4 walls inside and wasn’t able to finish cause that’s when she filed for divorce. While I did all this work she was planing her future with someone else behind my back and using me in the meantime. But making me believe that we would sell the house when finished and upgrade to a place more fitting to our needs. Little did I know her plan to cut me out of the equation because she didn’t realize that she wasn’t gonna be able to just kick me out and sell the house and take the money and run. We were together for 4 yrs prior to buying the house and married one yr after we bought the house. The house was put into her name only because it was a better interest rate then both of us being on the mortgage. She thought because of that I didn’t have any rights to any of it and she would walk away with her pockets full. She kept everything inside the home minus my clothes and a few pictures. But what she did keep and won’t give me is pictures and memories of my kids and family that I had prior to us getting together. When I left the home under the stipulation of the court I took very little belongings because she made me believe there wasn’t anyone else in her life and we could work on things so I went through counseling after she made me believe that communication and my anxiety was a problem. Kasie broke me as a person, manipulated me to squeeze everything she could outta me, bad mouthed me with her lies and accusations to make herself look like an angel, making me loose friends and also customers and potential customers for my business. And instead of sending me a lawyer to represent me in what was supposed to be an open and shut case, I get a kid who didn’t seem very confident once we entered the courtroom and basically did nothing but let this case get postponed until January so she can have a happy holiday season and I sit her in depression and broke with no financial stability and even less confidence then before I hired and paid over $4000 on my credit card which has just hurt me even more financially. I haven’t heard anything from Sterling law firm since the original contempt of court date on November 21. I feel like I was overcharged for your service and didn’t have proper representation at the court date. She doesn’t have council and was able to convince the court to allow her to have the court order basically dismissed and my lawyer didn’t even say anything or disagree with it all all. I hope that this still works out in my favor as it should have in the first place because if she doesn’t get charged and gets away with this theft for over $20,000 she has threatened me with a counter action against me for defamation of character and loss of wages and is gonna try to screw me over and make me look worse then she already has. With that I hope that if she is found in contempt, that charges of theft and fraud will be brought upon her as well as reimbursement of lawyer fees and my loss of wages be added to her expenses as well as court costs. I will still be decent and agree to taking full payment within 30 days but if not paid within that time interest be added to the balance and be paid to me as well as corrective thinking classes and/or incarceration for her actions. If she would have not been so selfish and greedy and done the right thing by following the court order we agreed on none of this would have happened. But she thought I was just gonna let her take advantage of me again an not do anything because in her mind she thinks I am still in love with her and want her back. She doesn’t know her family and friends told me about everything she was doin and planing behind my back. I suffer everyday from depression and major anxiety because of everything she has done to me and I can’t explain how much that has affected me and my family as well as my business. She needs to be held accountable and responsible and educated on the law.

Divorce sucks. It was an extremely challenging time to consider new living situations, childcare and placement, new careers, and financial division. Emotions and stress levels were incredibly high. Having Sterling on my case to navigate the legal complexities and timelines for me was an enormous weight off my mind, and allowed me to focus on taking care of myself and my children as I started to consider what a new normal would look like. I worked initially with Nicole and then the majority of my case was handled by Abigail Henderson. Both attorneys with Sterling were incredibly professional, courteous, and respectful throughout my case. Perhaps most notable of all, they were patient and kind. They worked to stay close to my ideal timeline and budget, even as circumstances continued to change within the case. Working with Abigail gave me peace of mind that the divorce was being handled correctly and fairly for all parties, and she offered invaluable advice on several key steps to ensure my family and assets were well taken care of. I dont wish this scenario on anyone, but if you do find yourself in need of representation in your divorce or separation, Sterling is the firm to help you through it. Thank you to Abigail, Nicole, and all others who assisted at Sterling.

I feel we should have been advised to write the addendum letter along with submitting the MSA that attorney Mullin knew it was lopsided. We had to sell our home so several things would change when that actually happened and I don’t think the and/or if/when circumstances were clear cut. I also feel in the future if possible to request a judge as opposed to a court commissioner if there is any chance for questions since they are limited. Otherwise I feel the overall process went well and it was easy to work with the whole team.

I have so much to say here, but it all is too fresh and I would not want to respond with the emotional personal response from the situation.
I was recommended to go to Sterling law.
Biggest thing with Sterling law and Robert is the repeating that I could go elsewhere. Obviously I know that I could, I was asking for help from you. I found the comment rude and terrifying when I was at my lowest point in my life. The lack of initiative, strength and advice during this time is disheartening. I’m looking to move past and only relived that my experience didn’t go past 2023.
