I dealt with Katie Vandeusen whilst going through a painful divorce. Katie guided me from start to finish, presenting me with options to get through the process as painlessly as is possible. She was highly professional and knowledgeable. She is also extremely prompt. I would highly recommend her!
Kathy was an awesome lawyer, much better than the previous one I had with you guys.
Hi, Kathy Curran was a very good attorney. I enjoyed working with her.
Please check around with other lawyers. After dishing out nearly $4,000.00 for barely any service I'm told my lawyer needs another $4,000 for phase 2. Really what the hell did I get for Phase 1. when I asked for a brief description on what work was perfor
Thank you all so much, I will always highly recommend Sterling Law Offices.
At the beginning of my divorce I had never felt so scared, alone and unsure of my future. Sitting in the office of Sterling Law all I could do was stare at the floor wondering what was going to happen to my children and myself. I met with Toby that afternoon for my initial consultation and I can honestly say I walked out feeling a bit better. Toby and I not only had a discussion about divorce, he listened to me and I left knowing they had my back and I wasn't alone. Derek Allen went above and beyond throughout the entire process, he answered all of my questions promptly, even calling at 5:30 a.m. when he knew that was the only time I could talk. I felt comfortable asking him to explain something again if I didn't understand and I never felt like we had to rush through meetings because we were on a “clock”. The flat fee system that is used is a great way to go through this, everything is up front and very fair. Tristan also stepped up and helped with my divorce. She is a wonderful person to work with and treats people like they should be treated, with respect. I saw both sides of the spectrum during my divorce, the people at Sterling Law Office who are professional, caring and a true class act…and my ex wife's attorney who I felt was an embarrassment to herself. Thank you all for getting me through this, I consider you my friends.
I think Katie did the best she could on the case, and she maintained her knowledge of what was going on despite having to go on maternity leave. The case was ongoing for a while and there was a change in situation that potentially could have given us more leverage in the current stage. I do not think this was part of Katie's doing, but moreso the firm's policies. I did not think it was right to introduce additional fixed fees in the middle of the court case, but Katie did do a good job of avoiding the continuation of stage 3 full hearing. Katie did give me an early notification before the case started that we could possibly split case 3, but there was no mention that additional fixed fees could be incurred in stage 2. I would have thought the fixed fees would stay the same, even if new events unfolded in stage 2, especially if it was to our advantage of leveraging the case. Overall, I would still continue trusting and hiring Katie as my attorney, but I do question the fixed fee structure as additional charges were incurred.
Part 1 & 2 (included in a word doc is praise to Shannon which is pasted in here as part 2) Email part 1-You might regret asking me for more details on my experience. Once I got started it was hard to keep it short. The first part is related to how Shannon Alberts helped me though this awful situation that no one aged 69 should have to face. The last part consists of a suggestion to help future clients as they go through the whole process. I’ve attached a word document of the following comments to this email. Part 2 from doc-
Shannon (Alberts) was a blessing to me. I was in shock during the first month after my ex-wife’s unexpected decision to divorce. Shannon did an excellent job in keeping me calm when faced with an opposing counsel that was unreachable, late in meeting deadlines and arrogant. I would do everything possible to meet the deadlines for documents, completion of the financial disclosure statements, and arranging to be in court on specified dates and times, only to be faced with the opposition’s delays. Shannon reassured me that things would be okay as we worked through 6 months of waiting for the other side. I was very frustrated, but Shannon kept her cool and helped me to do so as well. Her advice to drop the little things and get the divorce finalized was one I resisted but now I am very glad I listened to her. The one thing I am still am regretting is not fighting harder to have access to our dog or having visiting rights. It is sad that I miss the little one more than the wife.
“My attorneys were unprofessional and unprepared. Zero time was spent negotiating on my behalf, and necessary forms were never submitted to the court, causing delays in my case. Sterling then tried to charge me for “Stage 2″ of my divorce, when no work had yet to be done for Stage 1, and the need to go to Stage 2 was solely because of their negligence. I opted to discontinue services with SLO and appeared without representation at my last hearing, at which the judge verbally lashed me for not having any of the necessary forms submitted, a service I paid SLO to complete. They did not do their jobs. When I reached out to the managing partner, asking for a reasonable amount refunded to me, (not all of what I paid as I understand that I do need to pay for the services that were rendered, but do not feel I should pay for services that were promised but never completed) I was responded to with belittling, mysogynistic condescension. Overall, my experience was terrible, and the response I received back was frankly insulting. SLO does not care about you as a human being. They only care about your money. Do not choose them.”
The attorney's and staff at Sterling Law Offices have been fantastic! Not only do they provide exemplary services, they also are experts with a large knowledge base, do their utmost for their clients and have never treated me like a number!!! They have guided me through each and every step of the way and have treated me like a human being!!! It is great to have them at my back!!!
Maureen was very unprofessional. She never made recommendations in my custody hearings and would only ask me if I agreed with my child’s mother/her lawyer or the GAL’s recommendations. I advised Maureen in the beginning that I have learning disabilities a
Attorney Erin Boyd was very good. She was professional and helped me to understand my rights. Overall, very good and I have no complaints.
I had hired Katie VanDeusen as my divorce attorney. She explained all my options thoroughly and made the process painless, well as painless as a divorce can be. She is very prompt, professional and highly recommended.
I went and met with numerous firms before meeting and selecting Toby at Sterling Law Offices. I am BEYOND grateful and satisfied having Toby and his team. His commitment, buy-in, knowledge, and diligence was second to none. Being a flat fee service has me nervous at first but every effort was put into minimizing the additional steps or tiers needed and no resourcing or corners were cut. His team was ultra-responsive, caring, invested and treated me like family. I will recommend Toby to everyone I meet in need of a great lawyer!
Arrived early in the Morning to see Jeff M ! Very friendly, helpful, Informative information received! I was nervous about the price of services but was affordable. I was referred by a friend and I’m happy I chose to go there !!
Jeff was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He offered me options regarding custody and was honest with me which I truly appreciate. I was completely overwhelmed and fearful regarding my case and now have confidence and relief in the best possible outcome. Extremely satisfied with Sterling Law Offices and I highly recommend them.
Ellen Rhodeman was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in dealing with my child support case. I appreciated her honest input in helping me to decide how to approach court. I would highly recommend her and am completely satisfied with the outcome of my case.
I worked with Holly and she was excellent. Professional, honest, and trustworthy in every way. I have complete confidence that she secured the best outcome for me.
This was a vast improvement over my original attorney
I am reluctant to say anything, not my usual corse of action. I was given a price in the begining for basically a three tier approach to this case. I elected to keep it simple. Later, when I asked about a price for another portion of it I got and ridiculo

Very helpful. I was panicked after baby daddy threatened me and my daughter I wanted to make sure I could protect her. Joanna put my mind at ease and I am confident my daughter is protected!
Toby was very helpful and informative.
am a 100% disabled veteran and I trusted your firm, I paid $4000 and never received any invoices on what it was used for. I did all the foot work, what did you do for me. My Attorney went to court with me once and most of the time the talk was about your firm, he ends up getting let go from your firm . I receive a call from your firm and I had a choice to stay with him or stay with your firm, I stayed with your firm because that is where the only money I had was invested. I then receive a email from my new attorney saying that I was in stage two and she would need an additional $6000 to proceed with my case. As I said, I am a 100% disabled Veteran and I believe your firm took advantage of me knowing I didn’t have that kind of money. So would I let others know about your law firm and give recommendations, absolutely not.
Holly was great! I warned her at the beginning that my ex was going to be trouble. She handled it all very professionally. I would definitely reach out to her again if/when needed.
