Every one wants to save money and avoid unnecessary costs wherever possible.

This rule applies to wanting to save money on a divorce by not hiring an attorney.

Most people will search the internet for information and forms online to figure out how to file for their divorce.  And after finding the forms, some people will decide they want to print the forms off and try to go at it alone.  Without the advice of an attorney.  Without an understanding the repercussions surrounding the decisions they make or the boxes selected.  Hoping that they won't make a mistake.  Or, once they turn the paperwork in, someone will be there to help them make sure it is done right.

Unfortunately, the court system does not give parties legal advice.  Nor advice about how to fill out the forms.  Or, an explanation of the rights they are giving up based on the decisions that are made. From this lack of assistance, it's important to throughly do research and look do's and don'ts when going to divorce court.

That’s when we have to ask ourselves a really important question: should we stay the course and continue moving forward without an attorney — or do we hire an attorney to prevent any mistakes or losses? The answer will depend on you.
