It feels good to be able to give and help others.

We normally help those that are closest to us – our spouse, children, family, friends and sometimes even co-workers.

Our lives are built on having successful relationships with the ones that we care about.  And, in order to have good relationships we help our family and friends when they need it.

But sometimes our family or friends ask us to help them with big issues or ask to take up more time than we have available.  As a result, if we take on too much we can start to feel overwhelmed from the things around us. And, we can start feeling pains of guilt if we consider not helping them because we just don't have the time or are burnt-out.

On the other side, if we turn family or friends down too much, then resentment can occur due to constant unmet expectations. This can be seen as a common reason to consider when getting a divorce.

That’s when we have to ask ourselves a really important question: what is more important – my mental or physical health or helping out a family or friend with their problems? The answer is not always obvious.

But knowing when to say no to others is necessary if you plan to have a long and happy life.

If you’ve ever felt torn between whether you should help a friend or family member, this episode is for you.

In this episode, you’ll get three tips to help you decide whether to say “yes” or “no” to your family or friends.

What’s more, these same three questions are crucial to ask before you do anything for your loved ones. Write them down now and save your future self untold amounts of time, money and heartache.
