I think my lawyer has been very helpful when we are able to communicate, but my main complaint is that my phone calls and emails sometimes go unanswered for days. I also chose this law firm because it is only a few miles away where I have offered to stop by the office. My previous lawyer would always answer right away or let me know right away that they would get back to me the same day. I am investing a lot of my money from my retirement fund to earn more time with my kids in an ongoing custody battle with my wife of 14 years. I felt like there has been a lot of waiting in between times of the goal post moving and now we are headed towards the end of my first tier of payment. I wish the ball had been kept rolling more and communication was better during this first tier. I am still undecided wheteher or not to move forward with tier two if we dont wrap things up by the end of June.

Bailey Holt was great to work with while getting full placement of my two kids. She was very easy to talk with, very knowledgeable about my situation, and would quickly respond to any questions I had through out the process. Also being as they are a flat rate firm when my court dates kept getting pushed back to where my original time for payment was at an end and my next payment would be due Bailey extended it to get through the court date and was flexible with payment options for the next installment. I was very happy with choosing her and would highly recommend Bailey to others going through family matters.

Communication was handled well but the changes in attorneys was uncomfortable and I feel they could have been more aggressive with making my ex comply. It took months and went past court deadlines yet she didn't comply and nothing was pushed and some information was misrepresented that made a difference in judge's decision from what I could see. If we could have been able to go to trial earlier I would have been in a better place. I went into debt and lost everything, literally, at the end. I feel like I had to comply and she and her attorney got away with stalling and nothing was done to stop it.

I rated at 8 because at times, it seems like the communication between the paralegals and legal assistants seems to have a gap. A few instances where I was asked the same question separately, or thought the information was already shared.

I was mostly happy with my representation and attention to my case. I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t settled by the first scheduled hearing date, and as a result of the case not being settled by the phase 1 deadline, I felt that it wasn’t very cost effective for me to continue with a flat fee type of contract.

Attorney Gordon was compassionate and understanding to my case and needs. She recognized the difficulty in navigating one of the most difficult decisions a married person decides to make in seeking a divorce. A decision that's not made lightly and without great sacrifices too. The only negative I have through the whole process is at times I feel like Attorney Gordon had too much on her plate and wasn't fully aware of the correspondence from opposing consul. That said, opposing consul had no interest in a speedy outcome as such they delayed and postponed as often as they could; or did just enough to so they were making efforts. Attorney Gordon tried to keep the process moving, however they were unresponsive, sometimes for weeks. Thankfully we have a final decision and this part of the process is over, now the healing can begin. One day I hope to be happier than today, I hope to accept my decision and believe that I did the right thing. Thank you Attorney Gordon, Ashley Ryckman and the family of Sterling Law Offices.

I’m not satisfied with my 3 month results and informed attorney last week. Had to cancel pre-trial date due to other side not providing the required FDS and no reschedule date. Other side changed their approach and time lapsed and had to ask for an update. Now have a plan to hold them accountable and next steps. My attorney is wonderful to work with and want to be top priority and expect things to move along to resolution the next 2 months.

Nina Kelly and the rest of the Sterling Lawyers are excellent. I was going through my divorce for about a year and realized my former counsel was just accepting all terms from opposing counsel. I ultimately needed to fire them given their inexperience, and hired Nina Kelly who was terrific and helped get the divorce through to the finish line. At the end of the day, no one is happy with the outcome of a divorce, but Nina did the best she could to help me. My Allocation Judgment was poorly negotiated by my former counsel, but I will hire Sterling again to amend in the coming months. Highly recommend!

Over the course of the past year, I have been working with Attorney Braaten and his team at Sterling law. one thing i would like to note is that Mr. Braaten has a very strong tie to his code of Ethics (do not lie, do not hide) this is something that was important to me as I wanted to continue to be the moral and honest role model that i had always been to my children, even in the midst of what had turned into, a very dirty divorce. My case had taken more than a few curve balls throughout the process, however Jack had stay on top of the continual changes that had been taking place. I was able to work very closely and talked often, and had a real sense of a team effort, which was extremely important to me since i had to maintain my full time job as well as a second job while also Providing care for my children. Opposing council in my cases was not very forthcoming or cooperative, which had put a lot of stress on me, with that being said Jack had put due diligence into putting together the documents provided as well as reviewing opposing counsels positions before coming to me for review, which on multiple occasions we were able to discover holes or even false claims. Were Attorney Braaten rely shined was court room negotiations. Opposing counsel had a tendency to want to halt negotiations and bring everything to a trial in front of the judge. In my case the judge would force court house Negotiations/mediation between sides. I feel there was significant things that could have been handled differently. One of which, but not the main issue, is the wording in the final settlement. It is causing confusion and unnecessary work for both parties.

I also liked the flat fee structure. I didn't have to worry about sending an email that cost $350 because I was charged an hour and a typo or miscommunication meant $350 more for a clarifying email. I ended up being quoted a price that was more expensive than I would have liked, but, I also didn't really know what divorces could cost. In the end I felt comfortable with the law offices, the honesty during the consultation and that I would be represented well. Immediately I felt that I had made the right choice. My emails were responded to promptly, and I was given good advice while my wishes were heard and respected. They walked me through this process. I Did feel at some points things were strung along longer than they should have been. It took over a month for a custody agreement to be submitted when that was the one thing my ex and I had written out through an app in detail. I needed a couple continuous’s. After the custody agreement was in play at end of August I was told that we should be finalized by end of September. But that’s when things moved a little slower. They did give me a two week extension but in that two weeks I felt like answers took longer also. In the end we we got it done the day in needed to be done but I did feel like it was a little rushed because it felt like at times things were dragged on. We started the process beginning of July and finalized beginning of November. But overall I was happy with the way things were handled. I felt as though I had to monitor and follow up with my case more than I would have expected. For not knowing anything about the divorce process, I was expecting some guidance as to what was the next step in the case or when to expect actions to fall on a timeline. I am overall, satisfied with the level of service I am receiving from my lawyer, Austin Miller and his assistant Olivia Hamilton. There are, however, some reasons for not achieving a 10 rating, mainly due to a lack of communication that I would like to see. There have been a few times where I have been unable to contact my team for over 48 or 72 hours. My emails have gone unresponded to with no indication that it had been received and would be responded to. I have been unable to reach them by phone both by calls and texts and I had to resort to calling the general Sterling number, to which I finally got a response. On the date of my hearings I have been satisfied with Austin's ability to argue and advocate for me to the commissioner, and he has a level of sincerity and compassion for my situation. I appreciated the onboarding process and getting me represented right away when I made the request to file a petition. Overall my experience was positive. My case went on for almost a year. There were times where I thought about giving up but was reassured a there was hope. While the outcome of my case wasn’t perfect, it was a huge win for my family. My son is now in a safer environment which is priceless. The billing structure at Sterling had me nervous throughout the duration of the case because it was somewhat unknown however in the end I paid far less than if I hired an hourly firm. I tend to be a bit of an over analytical person asking lots of questions and the team at Sterling was on top of responding and by the end, proactively reaching out and almost over communicating because “I know how you think” to give me peace of mind.
